Seminar:FMM Perak Seminar On "GST FOR INDUSTRIES : GETTING STARTED"
From March 8, 2010 until March 9, 2010 | | Location: | Impiana Casuarina Hotel - Ipoh, Perak | | Country: | Malaysia | The Ministry of Finance and FMM are collaborating to organise a two day intensive workshop on “GST For Industries : Getting Started” on March 8 & 9, 2010 (Monday & Tuesday) at Impiana Casuarina Hotel, Ipoh. This Seminar is aimed at equiping participants with the essential knowledge on Goods and Services Tax (GST) and to prepare industries for the implementation of GST scheduled in year 2011 as recently announced by the Government.
GST is a levy imposed on business at all levels of the manufacture and production of goods or services and based on the increase in price, or value, provided by each level. It is designed to be paid by the ultimate consumer or purchaser.
The Workshop will be conducted by the senior officers of the Tax Analysis Division of the Ministry of Finance and will cover the following topics:
- Overview of GST in Malaysia – difference between GST and Sales and Services Tax (SST), proposed GST model and registration.
- Accounting for GST- how to issue tax invoices, credit and debit notes, GST payments and filing returns, claim refunds, input credit mechanism, etc.
- Understanding facilities and special schemes available under GST, Approved Traders Scheme, Approved Toll Manufacturers Scheme and Warehousing Scheme.
- Issues relating to GST transitional period- stocks at hand, special refund, sales tax refund, goods treatment, etc.
- GST guide for manufacturers –transfer of business, issues on warranty, samples, internet sales, hire purchase, etc.
- Preparing manufacturers for GST- what businesses can do to prepare for GST, modification to accounting system, billing, invoicing, etc.
As GST is a transaction based tax, it will affect not only accounting, finance or tax personnel but all levels of staff from sales, operations, logistics, accounting, finance and even human resource.
