The general perception is, crime rate in Malaysia has gone up which is a concern to investors and business entities. In fact, several members had highlighted to FMM over the number of thefts and robberies in their work places and that their foreign workers were also assaulted and robbed when commuting to and from work. We had also received reports from members that goods in transit or on arrival at the ports had been stolen. In one case, a member company exporting its goods through Port Klang suffered 8 thefts over a period of 8 months which portrayed a very negative image of our country. The accumulated loss for this company was RM1.1million.
